Summary
The Research Technician position is open in Dr. Xia Gao’s lab at BCM studying amino acid metabolism in cancer and obesity utilizing a combination of metabolomics, molecular biology techniques, in vitro and in vivo animal models etc. Laboratory training will be provided.The research Technician will follow PI's instruction and assist the PI performing assigned research experiments and help the principal investigator manage overall maintenance of the laboratory and conduct experiments with assigned research mentor. In doing so, the technician will gain laboratory experience and scientific knowledge on interactions of nutrition, microbiome, metabolism, and host metabolic health.
Job Duties
- Conducts dietary intervention studies in mice.
- Performs cell culture, western blotting and/or qPCR analysis.
- Organizes and maintains stock of lab supplies.
- Conducts routine lab duties such as washing glassware and autoclave.
- Orders supplies.
- Assists with other assigned research experiments from PI.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cell culture and mouse handling is desired.
