The Vice President, Transformative Philanthropy (VP), reports to the Senior Vice President, Philanthropy (SVP) and serves the Office of Philanthropy in fundraising efforts focusing on developing, socializing, and designing and executing strategies to build a robust pipeline of high-net worth individual donors and prospects, focused primarily on those with the capacity to make transformative gift level investments($10 million+) in City of Hope.. The VP will carry a personal portfolio of 30+ donors and prospects capable of making transformative gifts.

The VP will ensure that a continuum of relationship-building strategies is donor-centric and is highly collaborative within the Office of Philanthropy and with System leaders. The VP will serve as a mentor, leader, and role model within the overall Transformative Philanthropy program.

The VP serves as a senior member of the SVP’s leadership team and shares responsibility for cultivating a culture of excellence, collaboration, accountability, and efficiency throughout the Office of Philanthropy and moving toward the vision of being known as model of excellence among elite fundraising programs.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Manage and execute portfolio strategies related to approximately 30 high-level donor (gift capacity at $10 million and higher) prospects.
  • Demonstrates leadership competencies and represents the Office of Philanthropy and City of Hope. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of fundraising or equivalent experience required, with a preference for a seasoned professional with background in an academic medical center, or comparable academic/university setting, and/or a national health care organization.
  • Master’s Degree preferred in a related field; fundraising credentials (CFRE or similar) are also highly desirable.
  • CFRE, ACFRE.
  • Success in managing a high-level portfolio of high-level prospects and donors capable of making six and seven figure gifts.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring development officers in all aspects of solicitation cycle

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $94.61 - $157.33 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
